Private Woodland with Fire Circle, Decorative Timber Shelters & Historic House Somerset
Back to searchDescription
Off-grid woodland venue in the Somerset countryside with clearings, rustic wooden pole shelters and a dedicated fire circle. Set within about 13 acres of private natural woodland on a wooded ridge at a family property. The site includes small fields, mature trees, ponds and varied flora and wildlife. The site also includes the exterior of a rural family home dating from 1852 constructed from Blue Lias stone, which may be available for filming by arrangement.
Field – 23m × 49m (approx. 0.29 acres)
The secluded area is entered through a natural tunnel cut through the hedgerow, with colourful ribbons hanging from the trees. The path opens into a secluded grassed field roughly and is surrounded by a mixture of trees. Within the field are two covered shelters and a separate fire-circle area.
Large covered shelter – 11.5m × 8m
A natural, rustic, open-sided wooden pole shelter with a corrugated roof, decorated with natural elements, large fabric rope-tassel bunting and festoon lighting fixed using rope and bleached branches. The overall styling gives the shelter a natural relaxed bohemian feel.
It contains three long handmade Redwood tables with benches. The open sides mean that it remains connected to the surrounding woodland rather than feeling like an enclosed building. The shelter provides seating for up to 27 people
Smaller covered shelter – 5m × 3.5m
A separate rustic covered space beside the main shelter with partially enclosed corrugated sides.
Fire circle area – 12.5m × 9m
At the far end of the field is the woodland fire circle, nestled among towering mature poplar trees. The circular gathering area has been created within a former pond area in the existing dense woodland and is therefore surrounded by water during the wetter months only. Several rustic log benches are arranged around the central circular fire area, which is gravelled and edged with local Blue Lias stone. The fire circle provides a particularly atmospheric setting.
After dark, lanterns, candles and battery-powered festoon lighting add to the atmosphere of the woodland, making the fire circle and surrounding areas especially suited to evening gatherings.
Beyond the main field, the wider woodland has various areas and is largely natural and overgrown, with mature trees, mossy areas, natural clearings, ponds, varied flora and fauna, and abundant wildlife.
The venue is entirely off-grid, with no mains electricity or running water. Facilities include a compost toilet with a simple rainwater hand-washing area and parking for up to 20 cars.
The property is accessed via a short driveway from the main road, and additional parking is available outside the main house and in the adjacent field.

I have lived at the property with my family for the past 14 years and have extensive experience welcoming guests and visitors to the property.
For the past 9 years I have successfully owned and managed a separate holiday let here at our annexe cottage, giving me considerable experience in hosting guests, preparing the property for arrivals and working with a wide range of people on our land.
In 2025 I created the woodland outdoor events space and have since been hosting small-scale private events, workshops and gatherings. I am therefore very used to having people on the property and to managing different activities taking place across the land.
What makes the site particularly distinctive is its combination of private woodland, a large open field, rustic but carefully styled timber structures, and a large fire circle nestled beneath towering mature poplar trees. The property also includes the exterior of a rural family home dating from 1852, which may be available for filming by arrangement.
The combination of woodland, open landscape, rustic structures, historic exterior and atmospheric fire-circle setting offers a varied location within one private property, with natural backdrops and settings that can be adapted to a range of filming and photography requirements.
A separate two-bedroom annexe cottage is available by arrangement and can provide accommodation or useful support space for smaller productions, including talent, crew or production staff. The main family home remains private and is not available for filming.
